HILLS ANTIQUE CLOCKS
Repair/Restoration/Sales
RECENT RESTORATION WORK
The pictures below are from a recent restoration of a French picture clock from the 1840s.  The
movement is a silk tread suspension escapement and the strike is a count wheel.
The painting has multiple moving elements controlled by a series of wheels and cables driven
by two large spring movements.
In this part of the painting the horse's head moves along
with the dog's tail and the blacksmith's hammer.
The blacksmith's are hammering a piece of steel
while the man on the right works the bellows.
This is a clock which was restored for the Westwood Historical
Society after it was donated by Allen Baker.  The clock has
been part of the Baker family for several generations and is a
wonderful addition to the Fisher School.
Clockmaker Daniel Knower worked in Roxbury,
Massachusetts around 1800.
